I was supposed to take a fable called "The Ant and the Grasshopper" and write it into my own words, but still keep the point of the story. I hope you enjoy it. :)
One beautiful summer day, a cat was outside sunning herself in the grass. A squirrel scurried past the cat, his cheeks full of nuts to store away for the winter. He put the nuts in his large, shady oak tree and then sat in front of the fat tabby.
"Why aren't you gathering food to have for the winter?" The squirrel asked. A cool breeze tickled the cat's belly and she rolled over to face the squirrel.
"I don't have to, because my humans will feed me." She answered sleepily. The squirrel shrugged and continued to gather nuts.
When winter finally came, the cat found herself abandoned by her humans. She noticed the squirrel's tree and climbed it, hoping to find shelter and warmth. She peeked inside and saw the squirrel and his family, sleeping, warm and with plenty of food for themselves.
There wasn't enough room for her in the tree, so she had to leave and keep searching for shelter.
"It is best to prepare for the days of necessity."
